Start a Dog Walking Business

You can turn your love of animals into a side business by offering to walk other people's dog for a small fee. Start by setting your fees and decide on the times and days of the week you will be available. You can get clients through friends and neighbors, by visiting dog parks and talking to other dog owners, or asking local vet offices if you can put up a sign about your business in their establishment. If you want to expand your business later on, you can add on optional services such as pet sitting or start a website to bring in new customers.

Many business owners, real estate agents and other busy professionals need assistants to help them with answering emails, setting appointments, paying invoices or doing light data work they do not have time for themselves. Many business professionals are willing to hire a virtual assistant for either full- or part-time work. A virtual assistant works from her own home office and may or may not be located near their boss. Online job search sites like Monster.com and Craigslist post ads for virtual assistant jobs.

Clean Homes and Offices

Many homeowners are looking for a professional cleaning service to come into their home once or twice a week during the day and many offices hire cleaners to come in overnight after normal business hours. You will need to purchase cleaning supplies and provide your own transportation, but you can make a full- or part-time income. You can obtain your first clients by asking your friends and relatives for referrals, calling local businesses or building a business website.

Have a Virtual Garage Sale

If you need to generate cash quickly, you can sell items around your home online. Craigslist allows you to post ads for anything you want to sell, but you must set a price and do the selling work yourself. Sites like eBay allow you to create an online ad for your item and auction it off over a several days, but you will have to pay a small fee and give the company a percentage of the sale price for every item.
