Pro Shop Attendant Job Description

The job of a pro shop attendant entails customer service and sales skills. This job requires an interest in golfing and working with people.

Function

Pro shop attendants must provide excellent customer service. They take reservations, rent out golf carts, collect greens fees, sell shop merchandise and assist in coordinating special events. Pro shop attendants sometimes train and supervise other shop attendants.

Geography

Pro shop attendants work at public and private golf courses. They stay busy year-round in warmer climates. In other climates, golf courses may close for the winter.

Time Frame

Work schedules may vary, so shop attendants should be able to work day, night and weekend shifts. Some required hours may be on-call or holiday. Shop attendants may only work seasonally, depending on the facility.

Considerations

Shop attendants should know how the game of golf works, understand golf equipment and be able to use office equipment like cash registers, telephones, computers, printers and fax machines.

This job also requires you to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift and carry objects that could weigh up to 25 pounds.

Some shops may require that you earn CPR certification and have a valid driver's license.
