Jobs for a Business Management Degree

The business world provides a vast array of managerial opportunities. You can focus on general management or choose a specialty according to business task or industry. Managers typically earn $40,000 up to $150,000 annually, depending on their area of expertise and experience. Business management majors typically search for jobs in general management, sales, marketing, accounting, finance or human resources.

General Management

General management requires a broad knowledge base of business aspects encompassing finance, human resources and advertising. Titles for general management jobs include office manager, general/operations manager, business management consultant, business manager, business development manager or director of operations. Business managers are needed in every business from retail stores, restaurants and hotels to trucking companies and golf courses.

Human Resources and Marketing

Many business majors choose to specialize in communications or employee management. Human resources managers can work as generalists or specialize in areas such as training or recruitment. Marketing jobs include marketing manager, market research manager, brand manager or sales director.

Financial Industries

Banks provide several obvious financial jobs such as banking branch manager, personal banker, finance analyst or banking operations manager. But banks are not the only industry in which to build a financial career. Try financial planning companies, investment firms or real estate companies. Some of the jobs might be titled accountant, financial controller, financial analyst, credit/collections supervisor or real estate developer.

Other Management Opportunities

Some business jobs do not fit into an overarching subdivision such as financial or marketing. These jobs may include positions such as supply chain manager, convention or event planner, purchasing manager or education administrator.
