House Cleaning Jobs for Teens

Teens enjoy having a temporary or part-time job, such as cleaning houses for someone. A job gives them a feeling of independence by allowing them to earn their own spending money. It helps their self-esteem when they're able to tackle a big job and accomplish the task. They develop a sense of self-worth by helping others. Other benefits of hiring a teen is that it helps them with time management and punctuality skills. Many housecleaning jobs exist that teenagers can do well without supervision.

Window Washing

Washing the windows of your home is a job that many people put off and make excuses to avoid doing. It is time consuming, yet when the job is done, it brings great satisfaction to see the sunshine sparkling through the windows. Enlisting the aid of a local teenager to do the job will take this project off your mind, and it will be one less chore you have to complete in your busy lifestyle.

Garage Cleaning

Cleaning out a garage is a huge job that many people put off until they have more time. Often, most of the clutter just needs to be put into its proper place or discarded. Hiring a teenager to do this job will only take him a few hours of time, but the relief of having it off your mind will be well worth the fee he charges. Many people store large boxes or odds and ends, such as pieces of lumber or some other material, thinking they will need it someday for another use, such as shipping an item or building a craft project. Allowing the teen to discard the items or store them in a more appropriate area will get your garage organized enough so that you can actually use it to park your car.

Cleaning Closets

Cleaning a closet is a huge task that most people find overwhelming, especially if the clothing and clutter is several years old. You can hire a teenager to empty your closet and place the clothing into several plastic tubs or lay them on a flat surface, such as a bed. For instance, instruct the teen to place all the slacks, shorts, shirts, dresses or outerwear in separate piles. You may give instructions for the teen to discard anything with a stain, or if she spots something that needs a repair to place it in a separate pile. Often, once the first step is tackled, the homeowner may feel motivated to finish the job by donating clothing he will never wear again to a charity or by giving them to friends or relatives. Having the closet empty of all the clutter makes it less mind boggling to tackle the reorganization for the owner. You can make a quick run through of the contents in the plastic tubs or on the bed and get rid of useless or outdated items, then have the teen replace the remaining items back into the closet in an organized fashion.
