Apply for a Job at the Kentucky Consular Center

The Kentucky Consular Center manages the Diversity Visa Lottery program which offers resident visas to 55,000 random applicants every year. The program is run from the Consular Center located in Williamsburg, Kentucky, under the direction of the U.S. Department of State. Jobs at the Kentucky Consular Center are government jobs, not private industry. Thus, if you want to apply for a job with the Consular Center, you must go through the same channels as other U.S. government jobs.

Search the U.S. Department of State career opportunities online for civil service. The Consular Center employees are civil service employees, so open jobs will be listed here, revealing detailed job and application requirements. An alternate application process is outlined for anyone wanting to fax an application. Applicants will need to have an account with USAJobs.gov; account sign up is free.

Go directly to USAJobs.gov and search for civil service jobs in Kentucky. A free account allows you to store up to five separate resumes. You can learn more about the federal job application and hiring process, find out about special hiring programs and have new jobs sent to your email. Search by agency, location or occupation.

Ask at the Consular Center if there are job openings there and the best way to apply. Although all government jobs must follow a particular protocol to be filled, making contact prior to applying can supply a point of contact within the organization and could also reveal an available job that has not yet been posted online.
